Accademia Gallery: special openings in August (including evenings)

For the month of August, the Accademia Gallery in Florence offers numerous opportunities to visit its collections. On 4 August the museum is open to the public free of charge for the #domenicalmuseo initiative - promoted by the MiC-Ministry of Culture; on Ferragosto it is open from 8.15am to 9pm (last entrance at 8.15pm). The extraordinary evening openings also continue.

On 4 August, the usual appointment with #domenicalmuseo returns, the initiative of the Ministry of Culture that allows free entry, every first Sunday of the month, to state museums and archaeological parks. An unmissable opportunity to admire the rooms of the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence, for which no booking is necessary.

Also on Thursday 15, Ferragosto, it will be possible to spend a festive day, with regular admission fee, finding refreshment in the rooms of the museum, which will remain open to the public with extended opening hours until 9 p.m. (last admission 8.15 p.m.). It will be possible to admire the gallery's pictorial and sculptural collections, such as the gold-ground paintings produced between the 13th and early 15th century, the masterpieces of Renaissance art, the great altarpieces created between the 16th and 17th centuries and Michelangelo's famous sculptures: the David and the Prisoners. No less important are the collection of plaster models by Lorenzo Bartolini and his pupil Luigi Pampaloni - exhibited in the Gipsoteca - and the Department of Musical Instruments, which houses unique specimens from the private collections of the Medici and Lorraine grand dukes of Tuscany.

Until 26 September 2024, every Tuesday it will be possible to visit the museum until 10 p.m. (last admission 9.15 p.m.) and on Thursdays until 9 p.m. (last admission 8.15 p.m.). The special evening openings will also continue for the month of October, every Tuesday until 10 p.m. (last admission 9.15 p.m.), and exceptionally on Thursday 31 October and Thursday 5 December, until 10 p.m. (last admission 9.15 p.m.).

The opening hours of the Accademia Gallery in Florence are from 8.15 to 18.50 (last admission 18.20). On the occasion of the #domenicalmuseo initiative, it is not possible to make reservations.
