6 March is an important day, in 1475 Michelangelo Buonarroti was born and in 2017 the Association of the Friends of the Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze was founded! To celebrate these important anniversaries, on Wednesday 6 March 2024, the Gallery and the Friends invite a special evening for members and those who would like to join, registering either in the days before or that evening.

The Association of the Friends of the Accademia Gallery in Florence has been at our side since 2017

says director Cecilie Hollberg.

It is now an integral part of this museum, it is involved in all our activities, which it supports with commitment and constancy. We are grateful for the work they do in collaboration with the Gallery's staff to involve young people, Florentines, Italians and many foreigners with the aim of consolidating the bond with the territory, so that it is always stronger and more deeply rooted. It is great to be here today, as we have been every 6 March for the past eight years, to celebrate these birthdays together, and to renew our friendship.

The Friends of the Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze

says Fausto Calderai, President of the Association,

are looking to the future of the Association, happy to have been able to support a Museum that after eight years is being renewed under the guidance of an enlightened and innovative Management, but always respectful of the Institution's glorious past.
